Weather

July in Guangzhou is sunny and hot. The average daily temperature is 30¡ãC, with its highest at around 35¡ãC and lowest at 26¡ãC.

 

Insurance

The registration fees do not include insurance for the participants regarding accidents, sickness or loss of personal property. You are advised to make necessary arrangements for a short-term health and accident insurance before leaving your home country.

 

Currency Exchange

In China, only RMB is used. Exchange centers can be found at airports and banks. The rate of exchange is set by the People¡¯s Bank of China, which is now about US$ 1.00 = RMB 8.21. When exchanging money, you should keep your receipt in case you want to change any RMB back to foreign currency when leaving China. The department of Bank of China in campus will set up a special window for the participants of the congress.

Arrival Registration

Participants are requested to go to the registration desk for registration and picking up the Congress bag.

* Delegates are recommended to check in first. Please tell  the Conference -staff your room number,  when you register in the lobby of Kangfu Hotel.

Arrival in Guangzhou

The Congress will arrange the pick-up services with shuttle bus every hour from 9:00AM to 9:00PM at Guangzhou BaiYun International Airport on July 10, 2005. Local organization staff will be available at airport Information Desk on July 10.

The participants arriving at other dates may have to take taxis. The taxi service is available at Guangzhou BaiYun International Airport during the whole day. It takes about 1 hour from the airport to Kangfu Hotel. The cost is about RMB 100 Yuan. Please show the following notes to the taxi driver to get to Kangfu Hotel:

Instructions for Oral Presenters

Working Language

The working language of the Congress is English.

Presentation file Type

All oral presentations should be made using Microsoft PowerPoint 2000.

Oral Presentations

Plenary speaker - 40 minutes plus 10 minutes questions

Symposium speaker ¨C15 minutes plus 5 minutes questions

 

However Plenary and Symposium Chairpersons have their rights to make changes in order to fit to the total number of speakers.

 

NOTE THE GOLDEN RULES OF A GOOD PRESENTATION:

Clear simple messages on each slide - use a large font (>28, Arial)

Carefully use your combinations of colours - avoid reds and greens, especially on dark backgrounds

Use no more than one slide per minute of presentation time!

 

Presentation Loading

1.Please specify your file with your abstract number.

2.The preference is to copy your presentation file to a CD-ROM disk, which is submitted when Arrival Registration.

3.Alternatively load presentation file to the computer at Registration Desk when Arrival Registration.

4.The last choose, or copy to the appropriate laptop computer (designated by the room in which you are presenting) half an hour before the symposium started.

 

Symposia Chairpersons

Please check the meeting room and presenters to make sure they are ready for your symposium. Before your symposium started, make sure all PowerPoint files have been copy to the computer in the meeting room.

Instruction for Poster Presentation

        *Each poster has been allocated space on boards (90cm width x 180 cm height) located on Room A4 of Conference Centre. Poster should be placed during the welcome reception in the evening of July 10, 2005. The posters can remain on display until the end of poster session on July 15, 2005.

       *Each poster must be in English.

       *Posters should have a head part containing the title, author(s) name(s), institution, address and the text.

        *Posters should be prepared beforehand and brought in person by the participants. Do not mail your poster to the Secretariat.

        *Posters must be legible from a distance of at least 2 meters. Headings and subtitles should have the smallest letters in 80-point font (12 mm, capitals 17 mm). In the text the smaller letters should be 36-points font (7 mm, capitals 9 mm) with a line thickness of 1 mm.

        *Use colour pictures, graphs and diagrams in preference to tables. Avoid excessive detail and keep the number of words to minimum. Use only key phrases or points. Posters should have a single, easy to follow message, be readable in a few minutes.

        *Posters can be displayed on the board using only pushpins. No tape or glue can be used. Pins will be available at Room A4.

        *Please mark the time when the authors will be beside posters for detailed discussion.

        *The congress secretary will not assume responsibility for possible loss of posters left on the board after 4pm on July 15th, 2005.
