Message from the Chairman

Nowadays Entomology is experiencing a booming period while the various new technologies are being widely applied in the fields of biology. What achievements in the insect science we have got and which direction will it go, many people are wondering on the prospect of Entomology in general and the entomological research in Asia-Pacific area in particular. Here comes the 6th Asia-Pacific Congress of Entomology (APCE), the best opportunity for your coming to China, one of the major drivers of the world entomology development, to explore the answer to these questions.

For those professionals and practitioners in entomological field, BEIJING APCE 2009 means more than that. Not only to understand the fact of China acting as one of the largest academic communities for Entomology, also you would witness the efforts and achievements Chinese professionals have made in last decades. Furthermore, facing the common challenges such as resources, environmental, development, and agriculture sustainability, it is essential for all of us to address what a better role the insect science could play in sciences and in biology in particular. I believe BEIJING APCE will provide you with the best platform to exchange all sorts of ideas.

For Beijing, as you know, 2008 was the year of Olympics; however, 2009 APCE 6th will also be the Olympics of Entomology, in which there is more communication than competition. Just like the Beijing Olympic Games, we are sparing no effort to make 6th APCE an ever best APCE. For everyone in this field, it is such a great event being just "too Good to Miss." Looking forward to seeing you in Beijing!
